Battle with the Nightmare Weaver

[Location tag - Dream World - The Forest of Dreams]

[Date tag - January 23, 2024]

Violet is walking around a dense fog covered forest. Large trees of all shapes surround her. It's vaguely reminiscent of the Outskirts but a bit more extra. No animals are in the area, nor does Violet hear anything. She tries to look aaround, but the dense blue fog obscures her vision. Calling out to people yields no results. Just then, she hears a voice coming from all sides. It sounds gurgly and deep, “You will be judged Violet Naomi. Under the FULL MOON’s shine, JUDGMENT will be decided.”

“Judgment? Judgment for what?” Violet responds

It does not respond. Instead, Violet sees herself when she attacked and harmed Luna all of those times. When her body was laid to rest in the Vast Meadow. The hellfire blasts. This causes Violet to wake up.

[Two nights later. The Forest of Dreams]

The moment Violet passes out, she wakes back up in the same forest from before. Still just as foggy, though this time the sky is perfectly visible. THE FULL MOON shines down on Violet as if watching over her every move. Notably, many of the trees have spider webs connecting them, as if sectioning off much of The Outskirts' forest. In fact, considering the amount, it's almost like they're guiding Violet towards a single destination. The chittering of fauna can be easily heard.

"Welp... here we go." Violet follows the path of spider webs, hoping that this ends well

While walking down the path, nothing happens. She can hear something groaning in the distance. It sounds like nothing she's ever heard, a deep annoyed huff, and the sound of something like wood breaking. But that's all it is. THE FULL MOON peers over Violet. It feels oddly warm and comforting. Violet continues and notices it’s harder to continue to walk, as if wading through deep mud. Small spiders of all colors and sticky webs move her almost as though it were a conveyor belt towards her destination. The chittering increases in intensity but the spiders seem friendly and don’t bite her. Only her legs are submerged in this strange spider web.

Eventually, Violet reaches a large clearing. More webs cover the trees of all colors. The full moon continues to shine down. In the center of this clearing, a MASSIVE spider, one larger than Violet has ever seen, towering above the trees. Its thorax colors are black and shades of red and eight massive legs support it. On its head, two large beady red eyes stare down Violet. It does not seem to have a mouth. For all one could think, this is a toy spider. Many other smaller spiders surround it and stare at Violet.

Its voice seems similar to that of the groan Violet heard earlier. On one of its legs, bright red blood pours out of it. "VIOLET NAOMI. YOU WILL BE JUDGED FOR YOUR CRIMES. DO YOU WISH TO PLEAD FOR FORGIVENESS?"

Violet straightens herself up, collecting herself, and preparing for the worse, "I do. I wish to plead for forgiveness."

The giant enemy spider stares down at Violet, as if reading her body language. Its voice does not seem to come from Anan but from above. From the sky. Violet will notice Anan's eyes glowing intense crimson, almost similar to what she's seen from Luna and Hinata. The Full Moon no longer shines on Violet, instead focusing its energy on Anan. "GO ON."

"I believe that the crimes I have been shown have indeed been done by me, but the victim of said crimes and associates have forgiven me. I do not wish for their forgiveness but they both grant it all the same. Does the other associate not related to crime have the right to forgive me? No. I don't think so..." Violet thinks for a moment "And truthfully do I deserve forgiveness?... no. That is not for me to decide. Let the moon judge me how you will. For I am not the one to decided my right or wrong doings."

Anan does not respond. From the sky, clouds begin to collect above the clearing. Intense claps of thunder and heavy gusts of wind blow many of the smaller spiders directly at Violet, though not willingly. With the full moon's gaze no longer on Anan, its eyes revert to its usual cyan. Its voice is telepathically sent to Violet. "VIOLET LISTEN TO ME. THAT WAS NOT ME. I ONLY JUDGE THOSE WHO DEEM HARM ON OUR WORLD. RESIST!”

Violet is able to get out of the webs and dodges the spider attack, "What? What do you mean resist?"

"RESIST THE FULL MOON. IF I ATTACK YOU, FIGHT BACK."

Violet nods and summons a great axe, preparing for battle.

The clouds part just enough for THE FULL MOON's shine to target ANAN. With its magic, Anan's eyes glow crimson once more. Just like before ANAN's voice does not come from it.

"HAH. LET THE MOON JUDGE? HOW VERY TYPICAL. FINE. UNDER THE FULL MOON'S SHINE. JUDGMENT WILL BE PLACED. THE FULL MOON SYNDICATE FINDS YOU, VIOLET LAVENDER NAOMI, GUILTY. DIE." Out of its own control, Anan aims a lightning quick stab at Violet's heart with one of its sharp legs, much like Violet did to Luna, nearly two years ago. This leg is the one gushing blood.

Violet rolls out of the way. Anan aims another stab, but this one is blocked by her great axe. The spiders on the ground, the ones who seem to be Small Enemy Spiders chitter loudly and climb up Violet. They seem to be vicious, attempting to bite at anything they can reach.

Violet shakes off and swats the small spiders crawling up her body, she rushes her way towards the massive spider, swinging to hope to make impact on the attack. The small spiders are swatted off rather easily though they continue to chase Violet down. When reaching Anan, swinging the axe manages to lop off one of its legs, specifically the one bleeding. With one leg down, it howls a cry of pain and aims another stabbing attack at Violet's chest.

Violet sidesteps to dodge the stab and continues to swing her axe wildly. Another swing of the axe causes another leg to get lopped off! Anan is down to six legs from its usual eight. The smaller spiders begin climbing up Violet. Notably, these spiders are also with glowing red eyes, and they attempt to bite. "GOOD. KEEP GOING. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT ME. I GRAHHHHH REGENERATE. "

Violet continues to shake the spiders off and swings at Anan once more, lopping off another leg. It collapses under its own weight, though the small enemy spiders disregard their target and rush to Anan, seemingly worried about their friend. Anan calls out to Violet with an oddly exhausted telepathic voice. "G-GOOD JOB VIOLET. I AM FEELING THEIR INFLUENCE WEAKENING. I DO NOT KNOW WHY THEY ARE TARGETTING US."

Violet asks Anan, "Thank you. Do I keep attacking? I know you regenerate but I still feel bad."

"ONLY IF I AM ATTACKING YOU. I REGENERATE LIMBS, BUT IT IS NOT A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE."

From the sky, a loud, deep, but also somehow soothing sound is heard. It's almost ethereal how it sounds, like it shouldn't come from the sky, but it is. It sounds like something coming from the sea. Right above Violet, something flies past her then seems to hover in the air behind her. The smaller spiders look at it in awe, their beady eyes wide with amazement. Their chittering could almost be made out to be English.

Violet looks over to see what it is, and realizes it's Luna. More specifically, it's her flying dream whale.

A large blue humpback whale floats in place above the battlefield and it makes another deep ethereal bellow. This causes Luna to wake up and nearly fall off of it. "Yooo what did I miss?" she says from the top of the whale. This flying whale used to be named Bob Bingi, but it does not look anything like a Bob or a Bingi, so Luna changed it to Nautilus.

=== A CREATURE OF LEGEND HAS SPAWNED! COL - 12 "NAUTILUS THE DREAM WHALE" ===

Violet calls out to her, "Oh! Hey Luna! Was attacked by this giant Spider but seems that the moon had a influence to its attack. Spider's chill for now I think."

"Wait Anan? Why would it attack you?" Luna tilts her head.

Anan's head perks up, "WAIT. LUNA. YOU REMEMBER ME? ALL BEINGS FALLEN UNDER MY JUDGMENT FORGET MY PRESENCE. IT IS NOT BY MY CHOICE."

"Well yeah. You're like the only spider that's been nice to me." Luna walks over and pats it on the head.

Anan seems to be soothed by her touch, leaning into her pats, "IT IS NOT MY JUDGMENT TO ATTACK VIOLET. IT IS THE JUDGMENT OF THE MOON. I AM SORRY. I HOPE I DID NOT HARM YOU.”

The clouds part once more and the full moon seems to have disappeared. Victory seems to have been found. For now.

"So what now?" Violet looks curious around

Anan and the spiders have disappeared. The webs are gone. An odd feeling persists in the air, like an itch no one can scratch. Something feels wrong here. Violet, with her Flamebearer feather, can tell something's off.

"Something's off... everything seems fine though?” Violet looks around, curious of the odd feeling in the air

Luna is frozen in place.
Nautilus blinks and another ethereal howl comes from it.
The full moon shines down on Luna. While frozen, her eyes turn red.
A loud electronic voice can be heard.
== NOW LOADING. ONE MOMENT PLEASE. ==
Violet wakes up. She finds herself in the outskirts.

Luna is staring down Violet, her eyes a deep red. She also cannot move. The clearing they're in is the same location where they fought Psycho Puppeteer. Violet comes to and is staring down at possessed Luna. Nautilus is still in the area and moving ever so slightly.

"What in the... Luna! Can you hear me?" Violet thinks for a moment "Krystal! Use the code!"

Violet can hear Krystal's voice in her head, "I'm trying. But I can't reach her."

Luna continues to stare at Violet, completely unmoving. Her eyes are glowing an intense scarlet. The full moon's presence shines down on Luna and only on Luna. As if she's the only one illuminated by it, the rest of the area shrouded in darkness.

"Ughhh! Screw it!" Violet rushes towards Luna, summoning a shield in the process as Violet try's to ram Luna out of the moon light

Luna, unable to defend herself, is blown back by the shield. But like a spotlight, the full moon's presence follows her to the ground. She is still unable to move.

Violet looks towards the moon, thinking that she might be able to kill this red curse by the source. Violet spreads her wings out, launching herself towards to direction of the moon

Violet gets just above the treeline when she's stopped by some kind of a forcefield. In fact, when she reaches it, she notices this 'moon' isn't right. This isn't a joke. The moon's light, this power Luna is being controlled by, seems to be artificial. Almost like a spotlight. Violet's flamebearer feather seems to react near the forcefield, getting warmer.

Violet grabs the feather, holding it in her hand as she punches the seemingly forcefield with the hand holding the feather

With the feather in hand, Violet is able to pierce the forcefield. Violet finds the roof of a building they're in. And next to it, glowing in gold and only visible with the feather, is the Spotlight, similar to the kind used in theaters. The magical moon being used. Violet takes her summoned axe and slices at the spotlight and at the roof.

Swinging her great axe at the spotlight, it disconnects from the roof and falls down the ground, destroying more of the forcefield in the process. The illusion below the forcefield breaks, turning much of the simulated forest into its usual state: a warehouse. As for breaking through the ceiling, it does not work. The material used is much too resilient. Luna blinks, her eyes returned to her usual blue, "what the fuck happened?"

Violet flies back down to Luna while looking around to her new surrounding, looking for a logo or a door of some kind "This place is not real. The thing that was controlling you was a spotlight."

The spotlight has a logo on it. A familiar sun with the letters SE on it in black. "Wha.. what do you mean? Where are we?" Luna is sitting on the ground holding her head. Nautilus floats over and pokes its head on Luna's shoulder gently

"I don't know. Seems to be a Solaire warehouse." Violet starts to fly around, feeling the walls and looking for a door or exit of some kind

"Solaire? wh-- right." Luna gets up and immediately falls back down. "Fuck my legs." Violet finds a door leading out by the far side of the immediate area.

Violet runs back to Luna, helping her up "Here I got you." Violet wraps a shoulder around her to help with balance as she guides Luna towards the door

"Thanks Vi. You saved my ass." Luna says taking a breath to calm herself. On exiting the door, the building seems to disappear. As if it never existed in the first place. All memories of that building stay, but any evidence of it existing is gone. They are at the entrance of the Outskirts, right outside of Solar District.

Violet and Luna find themselves in Solar District. Nautilus follows them. Violet sighs, "What the hell was all that anyway?"

"Beats me. Maybe an experiment?" Luna shrugs. Nautilus makes whale noises. The moment someone looks at it, Nautilus disappears. Someone walks up to the two. "Oh hey, did you see a flying whale over here or are my eyes going bad?"

"Your eyes are bad probably," Luna lies and shrugs.

Violet can see they're wearing a labcoat with a certain sun logo

Violet looks to the person, curious, "And what might be your name?"

They're a midsized man, around 5'6" and skinny. Their skin is pale and hair is black with a little bit of red layered in. They have an odd smile. Violet might recognize this person as the author of Legends of the Creatures of Legend. "Apollo," he says simply.

Violet squints at Apollo, after going wide-eyed at remembering, "Oh! So you’re Maximilian! You wrote that Creature of Legend book!"

"Ah. I see my tales of wonder have captivated you! Did you have a favorite Creature of Legend?" Apollo seems to be rather cheerful, either that or he just wants praise. It's hard to tell.

Luna glares at Apollo while deep in thought, "right."

Violet makes sure the feather is hidden, looking to Apollo with a smirk, "The Flamebearer, but I do have another favorite, but perhaps I shouldn’t say.”

Apollo raises an eyebrow, "huh? I mean the Flamebearer is my favorite as well, but uh." He notices Luna's glare. "Can I help you?"

Luna shakes her head, "sorry, you just look familiar is all."

"Also uh what is this other favorite of yours?" Apollo asks, taking interest in Violet's phrasing, this almost teasiness.

"Oh perhaps you have heard of... CoL - 00?"

On hearing the phrase COL - 00, Apollo speaks in a hushed whisper, "who told you about that? They're lying. 00 does not exist." While speaking he pulls out a piece of paper, writes something, and hands it to Violet.

Violet looks curious to Apollo, looking down at the writing on the paper

It says

“I can't talk about COL - 00 in public. Meet me at Borealis Adventure Guild and ask for Apollo.”

"I'm sorry, I really must be going, I'll see you around." Apollo walks off in a hurry.

Luna tilts her head, "man what a weirdo. So what did that paper say?"

Violet shows Luna the paper, "What a strange fellow..."

Luna's eyes widen. "What. You mean... it's real??? How the fuck."

Violet shrugs, "Seems like it! I'll meet with him later though. I think we have both had enough weirdness for one day."

Luna nods tiredly. "Yeah. I uh need some sleep.. Meet you at home."
