Apollo - Hello. I hear people wish to hear more the Creatures of Legend?
Patrice - Yeah. Can you tell us about the Flamebearer? Rebecca mentioned it can bring dead people to life, which sounds a bit like necromancy or something of such in my head.
Apollo - Oh sure sure. The Flamebearer has two types of magic innate to its being, both connected to its very feather. In a way, you could consider its feathers as a piece of its very soul, a shard if you will. A terribly strong Flame Blast is one of the Magical Abilities. The other, and I believe this is the one you've spoken of here, is Phoenixian Revival. If one has the very soul of the deceased, laying one of the Soul Shards of the Flamebearer will regenerate its body. Unfortunately, there are two known costs of this revival method because of course a Magical Ability of this magnitude must come with a hefty cost.
The first cost is a two-fold sacrifice. First, someone must be traded. Using Phoenixian Revival requires a HEAVY amount of Mana to use. Someone else must be sacrificed to the Feather as tribute. Doing so, the feather itself, or a part of the Flamebearer's Soul will die alongside it. The other cost is the form of the revived. It is said that whoever is revived by Phoenixian Revival will not last long. Their body will turn to ash before long. In fact, to call them Revived is nearly incorrect. They will have the personality traits of those who they once were. They will have their memories and Magical Abilities back. They'll be what you remember them to be.
It is temporary however. It is said in legend that those revived by Phoenixian Revival last for about a month before they turn to ash once more.
Patrice - Are there any other Creatures of Legend that possess the ability of returning some one from the dead, or is this the only one known?
Apollo - As far as we know, and I should mention that we do not know everything there is to know about Creatures of Legend, The Flamebearer is the only one capable of revival.
Patrice - In your opinion, you reckon Flora would have known of any other Creature with that ability?
Apollo - It is possible. Her knowledge of Creatures of Legend far surpassed mine, to the point where she was trying to use CoL Soul Shards in her projects. It was a remake of an old project that was once said to have failed.
Patrice - Old project?
Apollo - I am unsure if I am allowed to speak of it. Rebecca?
Rebecca - Go ahead. Solaire is basically dead anyway.
Apollo - ... right. So, Solaire has been experimenting with Creature of Legend soul shards as a weapon. A weapon originally designed to combat Full Moon Syndicate's threats of ending us. We called this project "The Solar Force" after Hinata requested the name "HINATA4U" be retired. Reasonable, honestly. Why would you want your name connected directly with a weapon. And. This is a continuation of an old project. A corruption of Miss Hinata's design.
Hinata - ...it was you?
Apollo - yeah. I was the reason Hinata4U failed. And not just me. January was the one who assigned me this. January assigned me this project and I brought in Flora, my wife at the time, to assist.
Patrice - Your wife at the time? Y'all're divorced?
Apollo - Correct. And I don't mean the fact that she's dead now that we're divorced. It was a decision made months ago. She was cheating on me with someone from Full Moon Syndicate. ADMIN Artemis, FMS’s ADMIN of R&D.
Patrice - Must have been a bit painful to figure out, that.
Apollo - Yeah. Regardless, I still loved her. She made the decision to divorce. I couldn't do anything about it. I tried to fight back, but it was too late. Her mind was made up.
Patrice - Sorry for your loss, Apollo. But back to the Flamebearer thingy, how does one get the feather? The feather wouldn't be given out willy-nilly, I don't think.
Apollo - Correct. People are given Flamebearer feathers if they earn them. They would need to enter The Outskirts, get lucky to meet the Flamebearer, and then hope to survive the encounter. The Solar Force Project intended to go around this limitation to create our own. It was theorized and then proven by both January and Flora that if a creature has a Creature of Legend soul shard within them, then they become a lesser version of this Creature of Legend. And as such, they would be able to generate Shards for us to use.
Patrice - How would that work?
Apollo - As you may have learned previously, the soul is the manifestation of the person's Magical Abilities and identity. If a person, artificial or natural, is given a portion of the Magical Abilities of a Creature of Legend, then they too will be that CoL. Obviously it's not the same, but it's close enough that we can experiment further and work towards a manufacturable shard farm. In other words, Solaire intended to manufacture Creatures of Legend so that we could learn more about them.
Elara - Ah. So wait, that's why Bunnykins keeps saying he's Pietro's son?
Apollo - Correct. He was our first Solar Force prototype, a soul shard from Pietro, the Mighty Marionette, was implanted into it. Its strings are its soul shard. As I've said, this is not exactly a recent concept. The concept of Syzygy, i.e. direct mirrored connections between the Sun and the Moon, also exists within this as well. I am curious if anyone can figure out what I mean. If not, it's not a problem. I just hope that you all learn what this means at some point. Consider this a personal Mental Lock. I will continue to explain if you can solve this.
