The Solar District on the Eastern side of the City has Solaire Enterprises' Main Headquarters and more shopping and eateries. This side of town is much quieter and relaxed compared to other districts. It is yet unclear why Solar District is lacking. The buildings in this area are named either after the Sun or items you'd find on earth. So for example, one is Daffodil Dailies, another is Terra Creations. There's also a massive department store here oddly enough. Riri finds herself on a calm street with a couple cars here or there driving. Over in the distance is a large skyscraper with the logo SOLAIRE written down the side of the building.
Riri heads over and enters. On reaching the automatically opening front door, RIri notices a crowd forming over on the side of the building with people in white labcoats holding clipboards. “Um, hello?” Riri is surprised such a large crowd exists in the otherwise serenity of the District.
No one responds, though one of the labcoats walks up to her. They seem rather pleasant, a soft smile and a professional tone accentuates their nature, “Hello, are you here for our Portal Bag giveaway. All you gotta do is fill out a questionnaire and one of these is yours. Only takes a few moments..Oh, I see you already have one.” They notice the Portal Bag equipped to Riri’s shoulders.
“I had no idea there was a giveaway going on. I meant to meet someone here, sorry.” Riri seems shy.
The labcoat looks over her clipboard, “Ah, I see. Are you Riri? If so, LEADER Sienna is waiting for you inside.”
"I am, yes!" Riri smiles back at them. "I hope I didn't keep her waiting too long!"
The labcoat nods, "I'm sure she's okay. And with that, I shall return to my work. Have a lovely day Riri."
"You too!" Riri nods and walks through to look for her.
Riri heads inside of the building and finds herself in the main lobby. Rebecca is sitting on one of the many comfortable couches in Solaire's Main Lobby. Over by the windows, potted sunflowers face the outside and are currently closed up due to the evening hours. Seeing Riri, they seem to open up a little bit. Rebecca smiles towards her, "hey! Welcome to my little piece of home."
Riri waves to her. "Hi, it seems super comfy here. I'm sorry if I'm late." Riri takes a seat on one of the couches.
The way Rebecca is sitting is incredibly casual. "No worries Riri, it's nice to finally meetcha. It's not every day I get to meet someone Luna accidentally cloned," Rebecca chuckles before pausing, "right, I just wanted to learn more about ya, get to know ya ya know?" For being a leader of a massive corporation, she's really chill. It's almost strange how chill she is.
"I was wondering if she told you about all of that, haha." Riri laughs a little. "I realise I have a lot to talk about and learn here."
Rebecca nods, "Well what better place to start than with Solaire Enterprises Multiveilar? Wanna head to my office? We can chat more there, maybe discuss how our world works and whatnot?" Rebecca gets up and walks to a glowing blue panel on the ground.
"Of course!" Riri stands up, ready to follow her.
When Riri catches up, she finds herself on a blue tile as well. "So, to reach my office, we have to teleport there. We have elevators, but they don't go to mine or January's office. Just take it easy, we'll be there right," Rebecca presses a button on her phone and they both vanish.
"Now!" Rebecca exclaims. Riri finds herself in a new location, a large office belonging to Rebecca.
Riri looks around at her office and smiles. "I like it in here. I hope I'm not taking up too much of your time with this meeting."
Rebecca reassures Riri, "oh not at all. I've been wanting to have a chat with you. So before we begin, let me explain a bit more about who I am. I'm the co-leader of Solaire Enterprises Multiveilar, a science company focused on the creation of products to better help society. We're the creators of Portal Bags, portable bags of limitless space of which your items get stored in a small pocket dimension and can be accessed at any time, anywhere. And when I say anywhere, we mean it. We also do lots of charity work. One of our big projects is the generation of food which we often give to the homeless and needy. And of course, you know Hinata. She's our very first LUNA model and our pride and joy."
While delivering her elevator speech, she seems distracted by something on her computer, but Rebecca ignores it pretty well. After some time passes, Rebecca asks, "So any questions for me? I know that was... a lot. I keep telling January that the boilerplate is too much."
"I'm a little overwhelmed but I'm happy to hear that you work on all of that. I'm not sure what I should ask, though." Riri is admittedly a little lost.
Rebecca doesn't lose the soft smile, realizing that she might have overwhelmed Riri. "Oh that's no problem, just wanted to give a bit of a backstory on what we do here. It's admittedly a bit more complicated than that, but anywho, so how's life been treating you Riri? I've never known anyone to be cloned like that." She takes a seat on a couch and puts her feet up.
"I like it so far. I met my friends and shared plushies with someone pretty, but the attacks in town scare me." Riri sighs, though she still seems happy.
"Understood. I can imagine it's scary being out here alone, but at the same time, I'm really proud of you for surviving. The attacks from our business rivals at FMS are terrifying, I agree, but you'll be okay. It's just assholes acting like assholes. People trying to take control of a brewing situation for some time. They make me sick."
Riri tries to think. "I'm not sure what they're even fighting for and that worries me so much more. I'm trying to help but it seems impossible."
Rebecca shakes her head as it seems her calm and cheerful demeanor is gone for a couple moments, instead replaced with a frown, "you wanna know what they're fighting over? Domination. It's as simple as being the last one standing. It's fortnite but except there's no tomato town. And... look, I'm not worried. But Luna and Hinata need to stay out of this."
Riri backs up a little bit, trying not to upset her. "I understand that. I doubt they want this trouble either, but they're both being targeted."
As soon as her calmness leaves, it returns to normal instantly. The flowers in the room seemed to have wilted a bit, but now they're back to normal. "Yeah I'm sorry Riri, I didn't mean to worry you. It's just I'm worried for their sakes." Rebecca sighs.
Riri sighs as well. "I worry a lot too. I might be in over my head here but I want to help out if I can. If we all left, what would stop the fight?"
Rebecca returns behind her desk, "Nothing unfortunately. FMS wants to destroy all of the Solaires so they can be the sole megacorp within Capital City. And January wants the same thing, saying that he doesn't want, and I quote, "Tsukuyomi's evil perverting the sanctity of Capital City." He says this while also having a kid with her. So i have no idea what's his deal is."
"Unfortunately we're kind of fucked at the moment. FMS wants Supreme Power and Solaire wants Total Justice. Literally black vs white in the most stereotypical sense while also using Luna and Hinata's magical power as wagers."
Riri shakes her head. "It sounds super tense. If innocent people are at risk, something has to be done before it escalates even more."
Rebecca nods. "I agree. But I digress, I'm not the one in charge here. I'm merely co-leader, and a detective for the Agency of Arcane Affairs. Do you know what that is Riri?"
"I think I have heard of it but I'm not sure, no." Riri is invested.
"The Agency of Arcane Affairs is considered the governmental body of our city. It only affects Capital City. It is where the Mayor the city resides, it is the police, fire, and rescue bodies. In a way, The Agency is the law. As I said before, I'm the Lead Detective of the Agency's Criminal Affairs department. My duty is to investigate all over, the various businesses and shops, and to make sure everything is running smoothly. I also solve magical crimes, and have access to the forensics labs. It's a lot."
On the wall behind Rebecca's seat, many plaques and certificates are found showcasing Rebecca's achievements. It appears to be a source of pride for her. A soft smiles rests on her face while she speaks.
"But I enjoy my job quite a lot. I learn a lot about how crimes are committed. It's just. Sometimes, the truth can elude me. Sometimes, it's impossible to know exactly how something happened. It's like a puzzle without a solution."
"Just never let the pursuit of the truth out of your grasp Riri. Luna told me about you, how you're an archivist as well right?"
Riri nods at her and smiles at the pride in her words. "I was but I don't really do that anymore. Your job sounds so good. I have basically nothing but free time so if there is any chance I can help with your work here, you can always ask."
"Thank you. Speaking of, are you doing alright at the hotel? Or would you prefer something a little bigger to live in?"
"I like it there but I'm not opposed to staying somewhere else. I don't see it as somewhere to stay forever." Riri admits.
Hearing this, Rebecca types something into her computer, then she says, "how would you like to live in Solar District? We could get you an apartment over here and funds to live on. There's a massive store nearby called Sunshine Horizons Department Store that has anything you could want, and possibly things you didn't know you wanted. It’s our creation, one we based off of a similar creation we installed in Meridian." She smirks a bit while talking about the store.
Riri seems to lighten up. "It does sound like a nice place. If it isn't a bother, I'll be glad to."
Rebecca nods. "Ya got it Riri." She presses a button on her phone, "we're sending all of your belongings to the new place. Just go down the street about a block or two, it's an apartment complex called 'Sunny Smiles' it's nigh impossible to miss it. I've sent the information to Luna, Hinata, and Elara so they can meet up with you. I think that's all I have for you today, though I wouldn't mind meeting up again if that's ok?
"I'm down to talk again some time. Thank you." Riri smiles back. "I'm sure I'll find the way there."
"Just down the street, no need to make any weird turns. Oh and before you go, here." Rebecca hands Riri a credit card sized card key. "Slide that into the entrance door and you'll be transported to your room. Solaire technology."
She presses another button her phone which activates the blue panel they used to enter the room. "I'll see you out."
Riri nods as she accepts the card. "Again, thank you so much."
"Of course. Any friend of Hinata's is a friend of mine!" Rebecca smiles and stands on the blue panel. "Ready whenever you are."
Riri follows them to the panel. "I'm ready, yes!"
The moment Riri steps on the panel, they disappear. They reappear in the main lobby.
"Alright, you got this Riri. If you run into any problems, just tell it in Luna's mind. I'm telepathically connected there too."
"I will do my best!" Riri answers, eager to take a look around.
"Awwright, best of luck out there," Rebecca waves goodbye.
Riri smiles as she waves back.
The crowd is gone as are the Labcoats. the tables are all set up still and a couple of them have pamphlets
Riri checks the pamphlets out of curiosity.
The pamphlets are all about the various stuff Solaire does. Put simply, it's vague at best, hell Rebecca's explanation was better than what's in this.
Notably, a portion about Nova Industries, the precursor to both Solaire and Full Moon is included:
“Founded by both Phoebe Nightshade and January Solaire, Nova Industries was the original creator of the Portal Bags. And now with Solaire being the sole creators, things are looking rather sunny for the technology. Soon, even more portable versions of the bag will be available, even transforming full rooms into Portal Bags! We're truly thinking with Portals!” The publishing date for this section seems to be April 26, 2021
"Huh, not sure what date I expected to see on that."
Nothing else is really notable about the pamphlets
Thankfully she’s got better things to do. Her destination isn't that far away. In fact, Riri can see a building a block away from Solaire called Sunny Smiles apartments. Riri puts the pamphlets down and walks to the apartments. The apartment complex is rather large, a smaller skyscraper of many rooms. The logo has a smiling sun and the words SUNNY SMILES in playful red font. Riri is standing on a red glowing panel. On arrival, a card slot for the keycard is found. She inserts it and hears a robotic female voice speak, "welcome home Riri Stardust." Then Riri disappears
Riri finds herself in a very nice apartment in Sunny Smiles. It's got full furnishings and is very much reminiscent of her Arcade suite, just minus all of the video game posters and robot staff. The apartment has a kitchen space, a living room, a bedroom with a soft bed, a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, and plenty of closet space. Riri will notice that all of the stuff she had bought in Capital City, including her clothes, accessories, and gifts have been brought over and secured safely into various drawers. On the wooden coffee table in the living room, a note is placed.
Riri places her bag on the bed. The voice at the entrance reminded her that she hasn't chosen a last name yet, but hearing the surname Stardust used for her causes her to smile. Riri looks around at everything and picks up the note. It’s Rebecca and has Solaire’s letterhead and logo on it.
To Riri,
It was extremely nice to finally meet you, and I hope living here helps you get used to life on the Magical Earth. Enclosed is a prepaid card with $5000 for anything you might need or want in your house. The store over two blocks down has everything you could need (and a lot of stuff you didn't know you wanted). It's a Solaire creation, of course I'd be able to guarantee that haha.
Anyway, if you need anything or want someone to visit, let us know in Luna's mind.
Take care of yourself, Rebecca Sienna Wright
A black Solaire logo prepaid credit card is attached to the note. She secures the note and the card safely and proceeds to enjoy her lavish stay in Solar District.
