Elara's First Duel

Elara is walking around Central Square keeping her wits about her. Leaving the Church so suddenly and without most of her things aside from a phone, money, and Mr. Bunnykins in her backpack was probably a bad idea, but it's better than whatever garbage Tsukiyomi was spouting. She finds her way over to the arcade to spend the day.

Walking around the building, she notices a decent crowd of people surrounding what seems to be a large space in the middle of the arcade. Pushing her way up to get a better look, Elara sees two mages fighting for the enjoyment of the audience. It seems to be a fighting arena of sorts with numbers and stats being displayed so that everyone can see and keep track. It seems one person is losing heavily while getting roasted alive. When the HP bar for the one player reaches zero, everything resets and no one is hurt at all. It appears to be a virtual magic fighting game of some kind, even if the magic being used looks and seemingly feels real considering the screams of agony from their opponent.

One well-kept man wearing a black turtleneck sweater watches his opponent walk out of the arena grumbling, then he calls out, "I'll take literally anyone! Even you," the man points to Elara, "the girl with the bunny in her knapsack." The audience laughs and cheers on the man. Clearly the crowd's favorite.

"Bruh, I'm not a girl," Elara sneers, "And I don't even have magic!"

The man responds with a haughty attitude and laughs directly at Elara, "You wouldn't have magic, would you bunny? You're clearly one of those Australis bums!"

Elara growls at the man, "bitch, I'll show you!" Elara walks into the arena and is immediately stopped by a computer terminal on entering. It requires Elara to input her name and various data for tracking. Gulping slightly, she hesitantly forges some of the information, calling herself Luna instead of Elara and using data she gained through being her Memory MAP to hide. The computer system seems to accept the information, much to the delight of her opponent.

"See? I was right, you're nothing but an Australis bum! Hahaha!!" He points directly at Elara. "Fine, if this is what you wish bunny, then come at me."

They both press a button in their corners to show their readiness. Then, an emcee counts the combatants down and the fight begins! Elara focuses her energy on her hands, but nothing comes out. The man on the other hand, summons a large magical buster sword ala Final Fantasy 7 and swings it at Elara's neck seemingly hoping for a one hit kill. Elara is able to dodge underneath it and rush her opponent with a couple swift kicks to his side. Unfortunately, it seems to penalize her for not using Magic in the Magic Arena and 20% of her HP is removed as a result.

"You fool! Physical damage is negated here! Only magical abilities can be used here, fuckin bunnies I swear to the Gods." He swings the summoned blade once more, this time an overhead slam to crush Elara. His movements are extremely slow but strength is clearly shown in his swings. Elara can see the green mana bar right underneath the Red HP bar begin to drain slowly. Whatever this Ability he's using is, it can't be healthy in the long run.

Elara dodges left to evade and is frantically trying to figure out how her mana even works. She can see above her that her HP is slowly draining as a result of something and her mana is still at 100%, thus she definitely has it just unsure how to use it. She pulls out Mr. Bunnykins, her rabbit plushie while continuing to evade. "I'm scared how do I use my magic? Please Mr. Bunnykins, I need help."

Mr. Bunnykins is a lifeless rainbow rabbit plushie and doesn't respond, but somehow a heavy gust of wind comes from it which knocks down her opponent and causes the buster sword to fall from his hands and dissipate. "Whoa what the hell? Mr. Bunnykins???" The plushie does not respond for it is a plushie, but from its chest, a blast of steam launches at her opponent, draining him of even more HP. He's somehow already on the ropes.

70% HP on Elara, 15% on her opponent.

The man is shocked by how strong this 'Magickless Australis Bunny Bum' actually is and begins to plead for mercy, "Please stop, I beg you! It hurts so much!" The man's skin is literally melting and he is utterly covered in nasty 3rd degree burns, as if being boiled alive by her Magical Abilities. They should revert afterwards though... right?

Elara looks concerned but realizing this is all just for fun, Elara focuses once more on Mr. Bunnykins and a fiery tornado comes out of it. The tornado picks up her opponent and drops him down from the ceiling while still smouldering, which drains him of the rest of his HP. "Bunny bum am I? Now who got fuckin burned?" Elara fingerguns to them.

As the battle ends, the physical damage done to the man reverts and his skin and clothes return to its usual non-burnt, non-boiled alive state. Instead of congratulating his opponent however, he cowers in fear of Elara and the rainbow colored plushie she currently holds. "What-- What are you? Are you even--- human??? I've never felt such pain during one of these! I've been nearly drowned, even had my head nearly lopped off. And not once have I felt it as badly as I have now. How did you.. make it hurt?"

Elara shrugs. "No idea, this is literally my first time using magic."

The man looks on dead ahead and completely silently. His spirit is broken, but physically he is fine. The crowd abandons the man and gives Elara, or rather "Luna" loud cheers and applause for the insane showmatch. Elara blushes from the attention. They walk out of the arena with her head held high and a smile on their face. Despite the excitement, they're confused, even muttering various things about the match. Some stare at Elara like they've never seen anything like her Magic before. And a few others cower in fear worried dueling her might end in disaster, or she might attack them out of nowhere.

At the end of the day, Elara stays at the arcade for a while longer, even getting a room at the included hotel. She would continue to fight in the Arena, but $20 for what is basically a 5 minute game is not worth it to her. Plus, it's rather steeply priced.
