TMIR V - THE MOON’S CURSE
It all started with a quick check-in with my bots and my girlfriend wanting to go to a convention this year. Living in Fairview is great except for the rampant NORMIE population cursing its citizens with a sheer lack of fun things to do. I love living here, it’s quiet and relaxed compared to Capital City or other places I was in previously, but sometimes, the silence is almost *too much* for me. Hinata brought up going to Australis Asiatic Fest again, but my friends expressed concerns of our safety.
Tina, the NOVA FOUR ADMIN of Australis District, came in and promised our safety. Oh! I guess I should explain what Asiatic fest is. It’s a convention and festival celebrating te culture, lore, and beauty of the Asiatic Region. We know it exists but due to certain… quirks of the Magickas, the specific location of The Asiatics is unknown. Patrice suggested looking into archives for more information, but so far nothing has been found. Contacting the AAA, the Agency of Arcane Affairs, was also suggested, but even they don’t seem to be much help - as was confirmed by Rebecca Wright, former Lead Detective.
Rebecca hopped into the conversation looking for things to spend her time with because of current events in Capital City. Every night in Solar District, the full moon stares down from on high and causes many of the citizens to step outside and stare into it. Tina adds that she’s doing the same thing in Australis District, calling it massive and pretty. Spider asks about any projectors that they might have seen but neither have. In fact, whatever the moon is doing is affecting Tina pretty massively. It’s almost like she’s being mind-controlled by the moon.
Tina - But the moon is so pretty! Covered the whole night sky last night!
Spider - ...and you haven't seen any projectors or weird light beams?
Tina - No! Just the moon! I go out there every night because it's so beautiful. I love the moon. The moon is right!
Rebecca - The hell does moon is right mean?
Tina - It means it's correct!
Rebecca - No? The moon is literally just a hunk of space rock. Besides, The Moon is literally NOT right. It's on the left! Lunar District is on the west and Solar is on the east!
Tina - We can change that. Let's get Lunar District on the right! Then the moon will be right!
--
“The Moon is Right?” But I thought everyone in all worlds knew that the moon ISN’T right? I’m confused. Not to mention, I’m LITERALLY the concept of the moon and ain’t nothing in me is right. Doesn’t help that I’m left-handed as well. If something is forcing Tina and others to be this way, then perhaps there’s an enemy in our midst? Is this Nova’s fault?
The fact that both Spider and Error swear that there’s projectors is bothering me as well. Is the moon artificial? Regardless, hearing all of this arguing in my mind forced my hand, and I went to interrogate Tina myself.
Luna - What’s going on?
Tina - Nooooooooothing. Just telling the chat how much I like the moon.
Luna - Why
Tina - Because the moon is right!
Luna - No it’s not?
Tina - NONBELIEVER
Luna - can you not yell in my mind? Besides I am literally the concept of the moon and I can promise you the moon isn't right. It never is
It's because I am not right. I’m left handed! And Lunar District is on the left!
Viper - What if you're right handed though, then you'd be right.
Patrice - Why is the moon right, Tina? And no, "The moon is always right" is not a valid reason.
Tina - The moon knows all. The moon protects us. The moon is right. It's also not left.
Luna - It literally IS left though! WESTERN DISTRICT OF CAPITAL CITY IS LUNAR DISTRICT!!!!!!
Tina - not for long it isn't.
Viper - Okay so Tina is either possessed or is fucking with us
Patrice - I don't think it's the second. The first seems alright as a shout, but the second feels... strange to do.
Tina - I assure you I'm not fucking with you. The moon is our beautiful protector. It watches over us all. The moon is right.
Viper - But why is it right? How is it right?
Tina - I-- what? what just happened?
---
Huhhhhh???? Wait, did Viper just break through to Tina? With progress made, my friends continued to question. It seemed that while under its influence, Tina was unable to move? It seemed that only while actively thinking about the moon restrained her. That said, something else came up while chatting.
---
Viper - Do you remember what you were doing previously?
Tina - Yeah I had just gotten done taking care of some business for a pair of seniors that walked in. They were fellow ADMINs, Polaris and Saggitarius. And then I-- I don't know what happened, but I found my way back to my office at some point.
Viper - Okay so it seems mentioning a certain celestial body locks you in place and makes you spit out a bunch of stuff about it
Tina - ????? that's stupid.
Viper - It is very stupid but that's the best explanation I have
Patrice - I do wonder if Tina can themselves mention the celestial body of the night without getting... all of that happening.
Tina - The moon? The moon is right.
Luna - Oh for fucks sake. Tina, why is the moon right?
Tina - wait what? What was I doing?
Patrice - Yep, OK. That's just gonna be very quickly an off-limits term.
Viper - Well that proves it. Now we just have to figure out how and why this is happening to specifically Tina
Patrice - Tina, do you go outside and look up when it's night time? Just out of curiosity.
Tina - Yeah, I do. Every night.
Patrice - Can you describe the night sun to us? How did it look the last time you looked at it?
Tina - It was huge! It covered the whole night sky! We all came outside just to look at it!
Spider - Tina can you see any spotlights?
Tina - I have no idea what you're talking about. What spotlights?
Luna - Actually yeah, what do you mean Spotlights???
-----
Seriously! What spotlights are you talking about Spider? But as I would come to realize, these spotlights would be the main focus of our upcoming investigation.
-----
Spider - From projectors, when I went to go see the museum something similar to this happened
Luna - Wait what the hell? Like the Borealis Museum of Legends???
Spider - Yeah, it was abandoned with everyone was staring at a projection of the moon
Luna - … Do you think there's something like this happening in every district? Like... we have both Australis and Borealis confirmed, and didn't Rebecca say there was something going on in Solar as well?
Rebecca - I did say that yes. I cannot say I've ever seen any projectors though.
Luna - Maybe they're hidden??
Patrice - Recent art installations, mayhaps?
Rebecca - I mean Borealis Museum of Legends is relatively new, so maybe they’re connected to that. But as for Solar District? I cannot say. I think I would’ve been given some kind of heads up for an art exhibit.
